Kevin Lapointe
Program Officer for the CFREF and CERC programs, Canada
Kevin Lapointe is a Program Officer within the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat responsible for the implementation and delivery of the new Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) as well as the Canada Excellence Research Chairs Program (CERC). Kevin is an electrical engineer by training and has more than ten years of experience working in research administration at various organizations within Canada. Prior to joining the Secretariat, Kevin was involved in the delivery and management of a variety of funding opportunities at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) including its flagship Discovery Grants Program, Research Tools and Instruments Program and Major Resources Support Program. Kevin has also delivered programs that support the training of the next generation of researchers at a pivotal time in their careers; namely, the Canada Graduate Scholarship Program, NSERC’s Postdoctoral Fellowships Program and the Industrial R&D Fellowships Program. Kevin also spent some time at the Canada Foundation for Innovation which aims to build Canada’s capacity to undertake world-class research by investing in state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
